Extreme Fire Danger

Smokey the bear started off as a bear cub
found clinging to a tree, scared and burned,
somewhere near this area.  Because of that
he grew up to be the poster for preventing
forest fires.
This morning we tried to go for a hike in the mountains around Ruidoso.  We didn't realize that the entire National Forest was closed due to extreme fire danger.  We ended up going south to Grindstone lake, and hiked/walked around the lake.  It was better than nothing, but didn't feel much like a hike.
Later in the day, we walked in to town.  We ended up at TCBY for some ice cream.  It was yummy.
While we were sitting on the deck at the cabin, we saw a huge group of deer just across the street!  I counted 13 traveling together.  It was crazy.
The day ended in the hot tub.  It was very relaxing.
Yes, they actually DID close the entire Natinoal Forest.
Hiking around the lake
I forgot a hair tie, so I had to improvise.
Deer were EVERYWHERE!
