The Burnt House, shopping, shopping, and more shopping!

This morning I went to class, unsure of what I would be doing after class. To my surprise, Beth came up to me and asked if I wanted to go to the Burnt House today. (Right - Damascus Gate. This is the gate that we most often use to enter the old city. At the bottom is our favorite falafel place. You can get a falafel for 6 NIS!) Since that is what I wanted to do yesterday and was unable to do, I was happy to join their group. We had our last ancient near eastern studies class with Brother Seely. The boys had prepared an interesting way to commemorate the occasion. Most of them dressed up as secret service and Matt was the president who came especially for the last class. (Left - Bethany buying her first falafel at our favorite place. Clare just wanted to be in the picture). It was very amusing. Towards the end of class, Brother Seely gave a heart-warming speech. It was very moving. After that and announcements, the secret service escorted him, his family, and the president out.
Beth, Clare, and I left shortly after class. We kind of meandered our way through the old city. We got lunch (falafel of course) and made it to the Burnt House. That is a very small type of museum. We watched a 25 minute film that was interesting. (Right - me, Shabban, Beth, and Clare). I enjoyed it, but it is something I would not do again, though I'm glad I went. It cost 20 NIS. I don't think it is worth 20 NIS. Oh well.
Next we went shopping. We went to Shabban's, one of our favorite sellers. His shop is called the BYU shop. I bought a prayer rug with the Dome of the Rock on it, an oil lamp, a sweatshirt and a few more t-shirts. The other two bought some things, too, before we headed back. At one point, a guy started singing to us, "Mormons, we love you! All the way support you!" or something like that. It was quite amusing. Then we came back to the center.
