Feeding Babies

Today was a great Sabbath. I almost didn't wake up in time for breakfast and as a result I was late for choir. Nonetheless, it was a good day. (Right - here I am holding one of my little guys, burping him to be exact. This was the biggest baby I held and the one that ate the best. Still, he tried to sleep on me . . .) Our Palestinian member from Bethlehem was able to come today because it is Easter weekend. That was really great to see because she can't come every Sabbath. She is amazing. I led the music in sacrament meeting. There were so many visitors! It was great.
After church, I went with Megan to feed the babies at the hospital near the center. The babies were so cute! The first two kept falling asleep in my arms. I couldn't get that to stay awake to eat. The second was a little better. They were all so cute, though not all really tiny. I enjoyed it a lot, though. We stayed for about an hour and a half and then we drove back. We had to get a ride there because only two can go at a time. Our security/sports fitness guy drove us. On the drive back, he really opened up to us and it was really interesting to hear his views. He is half Palestinian and half Scottish. He grew up speaking English in his home and went to an international school as a child. He also studied at Hebrew University. He told us that even though he holds an Israeli passport, he feels like a second class citizen. He doesn't like living here at all. (Left - Megan holding her little...er...big guy. He was nice and chubby and very hungry. Of all the babies we fed, he was the best eater. He was so hungry when we first got him that he was trying to eat the pad that we used to catch the milk as it dribbled out!). I don't know why he doesn't move. Maybe he doesn't have the resources or the opportunity. I really don't know.
Then Megan and I spent the rest of the day talking. It was nice because I think we both feel that the other is capable of understanding things that most here are too young, naive, or even just immature to understand. Not that they are stupid, they just don't have the life experiences needed.
Anyway, I am planning on going to midnight mass at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. I think I must be crazy!
